About us
A compassionate desire to care for the vulnerable proved the catalyst for a new generation of fabric, one that would exceed all expectations. Our founder, Sosa Liu named it MOFA, meaning “magic”. Its new name capturing its remarkable protective qualities, its ability to stay fresh, and its remarkable versatility.
Original MOFA emerged from direct experience in healthcare environments and communities. Our founder therefore approached the textile world not as a conventional fashion entrepreneur or laboratory scientist, but from a healthcare perspective.
Sosa observed a person first, identified the problem they were encountering and then devised a practical way to solve it. This is how MOFATEX was conceived. A textile designed around the needs of real people in real-world situations.

The next step was to form a dedicated team who would share Sosa’s ethos. Industry experts with exceptional technological expertise were sought and invited to join the project. It was this team that would create the technology to bring MOFATEX to life.

With new technology, however, comes huge responsibility. From the outset, it was imperative to everyone involved that this new textile would have a minimal environmental impact. With Original MOFA, the wish to care for people would not come at the expense of the planet.
​
Since then, dedicated research and the experiences of real people have consistently attested to Original MOFA’s softness, comfort, durability and anti-microbial properties. Not only that, MOFATEX quickly revealed a secret power: the ability to neutralise odours.
​
To this day, healthcare continues to inform our standards of safety; however, Original MOFA is not, and never will be, a healthcare brand. Original MOFA is designed for everyone.
Safeguarding the vulnerable
The MOFA Care oncology journey started when a close personal friend who was diagnosed with leukaemia. The illness, and its accompanying treatment, leave patients desperately vulnerable to infection. In this fragile state, ordinary environmental bacteria can be life-threatening.

We gifted our friend some MOFA Care antibacterial garments to create a clean, protective bio-barrier against opportunistic bacterial and viral exposures. The garments proved invaluable to our friend’s recovery.
This simple act of kindness proved a catalyst. Connections were rapidly forged with organisations, institutes and hospitals, nationally and internationally, resulting in our very proud association with the Rainbow Trust Foundation.
The One-Week Plastic Bag Experiment
One of our Original MOFA team members wore our antibacterial athletic top for a workout. After sweating through her gym session, she absent-mindedly threw the now very damp top into a sealed plastic bag and then completely forgot about it. A week passed before she remembered the top!

Bracing herself as she reopened the bag, she expected to be hit by a terrible odour, but was amazed to discover no smell at all. It was as if the top had been freshly laundered.
​
This was not a one-off event. The ability of MOFATEX to stay fresh has been proved time and time again. All those who wear MOFA Sport experience its extraordinary anti-odour capabilities.
The University Experiment
One of our friends sent their twins off to university, and we gifted each a set of MOFA Home bedlinen. Well aware that student life is frequently more focussed on studying and having fun rather than general care, we wanted them to rest well, with bedding that would remain comfortable, clean and fresh, however much they worked and partied.
The bedding was a hit! Not only that, for students on a budget, the bedding required fewer washes and was therefore much easier, and cheaper, for them to maintain.
Our bedding exceeded even our expectations. We were thrilled to discover that the original bedding we gifted as the students left for university lasted the whole three years, remaining as soft, fresh, clean and usable as it had been from day one.
